FAQ's
1. How do you get sponsored?
Getting sponsored is very difficult, it is a very competive world out there. I suggest you start small with local business and companies, and move up from there to larger companies in our industry. First off you have to understand that nothing is going to be given to you, you have to work for everything. The reason you get sponsored is because the company/store sees value in you and can use you as a tool to generate business and revenue for whatever they are promoting. You as a team or an individual are going to have to prove to them, why they should invest in you. You need to make some sort of portfolio, or resume and show to them your goals and aspirations as a player or team. You need to show them what you plan to do in order to promote them to the fullest extent. Obviously you need to practice hard and show results in local or national tournaments to gain recognition by others and that will be an easy way of proving yourself to sponsors.
Good luck.
2. What are some drills that will make me a better player?
A drill is just a figment of your imagination. Whatever you want to get better at you need to isolate it and practice just that. Like snap shooting, running and shooting, sweet spotting ect. So if you need to work on those basic things take some time while you are playing to just focus on whatever it may be. The best advice i can really give you is to play as much as possible, dont worry about what other people think, try new things and experiment every time you play. The most important thing is to learn from your mistakes, if you get shot, figure out who shot you from where, how and why. Make sure that it never happens again. Always play against better people and learn from them, its very important to watch and learn from others, I still do that and I get better every time I play. The list goes on and on for drills, if you are serious about honing specific skills, I suggest enrolling in a clinic in your local area. Also check your local store for the dynasty dysected.
3. How did you get into paintball?
I start playing paintball in the 8th grade, 1998, I played for the first time in 97 for a birthday party and got hooked. I started playing at Mare Island paintball field in Vallejo Ca, with Alex Fraige (captain Team Dynasty), his cousin and father. We started a team called The Monkeys and entered our first event, losing every game but still managing to get the sportsmanship award, allowing us free entry into the next event. Later Eric Crandel, the owner of the field gathered the local kids which included, myself, Alex Fraige, Ryan Greenspan, Yosh Rau, Angel Fragoza, Brian Cole and Kevin Bredthuer to play in our first big event. That gave us our first taste of a real professional paintball tournament and history was made.
4. What is the Ironkids?
In 1999 all the guys that I started playing paintball with, played on other teams, Alex, Yosh, Angel, played for a team called Diggers, Sk and BC played for a team called Krusade, Opie played for Shockwave, Ryan, Todd and myself played for outtacontrol. We played for all those teams in the 10-man NPPL. I then decided i wanted to make a team of all the great young talent I could find, which would mean bringing all my friend from other teams to play on one. It was difficult to match the offers that we were all getting on our NPPL teams, so I thought we could play in the Great Western events(now xpsl). At the time the Ironmen were the biggest name in paintball, making a spin-off of their name I called it the Ironkids. Starting the whole kids phase, now every team out there retorts to the second or younger team as "Kids" We asked pro players to come play with us, because it would not interfere with the NPPl events. We had Davey Williamson (Now XSV) and Eric Robert from the Ironmen. We won the series in 10-man and finished first place in every 5-man we entered except two. In short, it was team Dynasty before Dynasty was conceived.
5. Can I have your gun?
Im sorry, but no, we only get a limited amount of guns for the year, I am very superstitious and like to use the same equipment all year.
6. What do you think about your DM7?
I love it, I have now shot all the high-end markers out there, and this is by far my favorite. I love how comfortable it feels in my hand, I get great air efficiency, its easy maintain and is light and very accurate.
7. What are your settings on your gun?
I use a Virtue board and it makes a huge difference. It is very easy to adjust all the settings and if you like to tinker with the modes, this board is right for you. I always play with my gun on semi auto, never play with your gun on ramp it does not make you a better player, once i go into a psp and I am allowed to play with 15 ramped it makes me feel invincible, and I play better.
I set my debounce at 2 or 3.
Dwell is set at 21 or 20.
Eye sensitivity is set at 2 or 3.
AMB is set at 3.
ABS is set at 1 or 2.
ROF is set at 1.
8. Why did you leave Dynasty?
My dream has always been to play professional paintball. I was approached with an offer which would allow me to make my dream come true. It was the next step in my career to see if I really am the best. It has set a level for our sport and made a market for all you aspiring kids out there.
9. Can you come do a clinic in my area. How do clinics work?
Clinics are put on by local fields or stores to promote themselves and the sport in their area. A promoter has to contact me and book a date. I have a very busy schedule so this needs to be done in the begginng of the year, so that i can work around practices and tournaments. If you would like to schedule a clinic and would like more info please email me.
